Intel Launches Atom Application

Intel CEO Paul Otellini noted that Atom is in many different devices and it wasn’t a single device experience like the iPhone/iPod Touch. When he announced plans for an “Atom App Store” in September, Thus, Intel’s goal for developers was write once and run in many places.

Intel Atom Developer Program is available for developers on both Microsoft Windows and Intel’s Linux-based Moblin operating systems. It works with popular developer toolkits like Visual Studio to install the app store on the device and everything around it.

The Atom-based netbooks are considered to be inexpensive but one should note that it does not have all the features that a laptop has. The netbooks boot time is very faster as well as the battery life will be higher and the price will be lower..

Intel allowed its design to multiple chipset manufacturers. The Atom Developer Program is designed for independent software vendors (ISVs) and software developers to create Atom applications for different platforms, and make the process of porting an app from one platform to another as seamless as possible.

The beta version of the Intel Atom Developer Program is already available for developers on both Microsoft Windows and Intel’s Linux-based Moblin operating systems.

The models that will be based on the A8 processor will appear in the market in the first half of 2010 the average selling price of netbooks by $60 to $120..
